The Car
A road-legal, championship-winning 993 Carrera Cup with documented professional race history, 311 hp, German registration and only 13,308 km from new.
Few Porsche competition cars combine factory motorsport pedigree, championship-winning history, German road registration and exceptional originality like this 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera Cup 3.8 (993). Built by Porsche Motorsport for Carrera Cup and Supercup competition, it represents the final evolution of Porsche’s air-cooled customer race cars before the arrival of the 996 generation.
Power comes from the naturally aspirated Type M64/70 3.8-liter flat-six, producing 311 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque through a strengthened G50/30 close-ratio six-speed gearbox. A welded roll cage, adjustable racing suspension, lightweight competition interior, Speedline racing wheels and extensive factory motorsport engineering complete the specification. Porsche Motorsport produced only 441 examples of the 993 Carrera Cup between 1994 and 1998, with 216 completed for the final model year.
Delivered new in 1998 to Tolimit Motorsport, the car contested seven Porsche Cup races with Frank Stippler. Porsche Center Neckar-Alb – MAX MORITZ Motorsport acquired it for 1999, when Roland Hertner and Rainer Noller drove it to victory in the German GTP Porsche Endurance Championship. With RS Line and Thomas Neuert, it contested 20 further GTP races in 2000 and 2001 and won the Overall Pirelli Trophy Championship.
After professional competition, the car entered private collector ownership in 2002 and was restored to its original 1998 Porsche Motorsport racing specification while preserving its documented history. German road registration followed in 2014. Since 2015 it has been maintained by Prosten Motorsport, with a full fluid service completed in March 2024 and a further inspection and fresh service planned before delivery.
Now showing only 13,308 kilometers (8,269 miles), this road-legal Carrera Cup remains an exceptionally original and well-documented competition Porsche. It is offered with supporting racing records and technical information; inspections are welcome by appointment and worldwide transportation assistance is available.
