Few Italian grand touring cars have matched the timeless elegance of the Maserati Ghibli. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Ghia and unveiled at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, it remains one of the most beautiful and desirable grand touring automobiles ever built.

Chassis AM115*1520 belongs to a select group among approximately 1,149 Ghibli Coupés produced. Originally finished in Verde Bosco Metallizzato over White Connolly leather, it was selected by Maserati as the official factory display vehicle for the 1970 Chicago Motor Show, where it represented the marque’s flagship grand tourer.

Acquired by its current owner in 2014, the Ghibli underwent an uncompromising seven-year, concours-level nut-and-bolt restoration using factory-correct methods and New Old Stock components wherever possible. The body restoration was entrusted to Mike Kleeves of Automobile Metal Shapers, while Maserati specialist Terry Myrr rebuilt the matching-numbers 4.7-liter quad-cam V8 with a new crankshaft and carefully engineered lubrication improvements.

Following completion, the car made its public debut at the 2021 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and earned a class award. Maserati Classiche certification includes the Certificate of Origin, Technical & Aesthetic Certificate and a certified copy of the original delivery note, confirming the car’s matching-numbers authenticity and factory specifications.

Paired with the desirable ZF S5-325 five-speed manual transmission, the Ghibli has travelled approximately 200 miles since restoration and remains concours-ready. Its extensive history file includes restoration records, original documentation, custom luggage and award material.

With documented motor-show provenance, matching-numbers authenticity, Maserati Classiche certification and concours-winning presentation, this Tipo AM115 is a benchmark example of Giugiaro’s celebrated grand touring design.
