The Car
A one-off, road-legal 1974 911S RSR Turbo evocation engineered by leading Porsche motorsport specialists, with selectable 540, 580 and 620 hp maps, 1,050 kg curb weight and German historic registration.
Built on an accident-free 1974 Porsche 911S chassis, this extraordinary one-off Porsche offers a modern interpretation of the legendary 1974 Carrera RSR Turbo, the car that established Porsche’s early turbocharged racing legacy.
Commissioned by a private owner, the project was developed under the direction of renowned Porsche specialists Peter Prosten of Prosten Motorsport, a German Porsche engineering company specializing in race preparation, competition development, and restoration, and Neil Bainbridge of Westcott Automotive and BS Motorsport, one of Great Britain’s foremost builders of bespoke air-cooled Porsche competition cars. Drawing on decades of experience with the 911 R, ST, RS, RSR, 934 and 935, the team created a unique air-cooled 911 that blends period-correct motorsport character with modern engineering and exceptional performance.
The bespoke body engineering and fabrication were completed in collaboration with DP Motorsport of Germany, one of the world’s most respected Porsche motorsport and coachbuilding specialists. Beginning in December 2016, the project was constructed over approximately three years by FIA- and ONS-qualified motorsport specialists and incorporates extensive custom-engineered components developed specifically for this car.
At its heart is a highly developed 3.3-liter turbocharged air-cooled flat-six controlled by programmable MoTeC engine management. Three selectable maps deliver approximately 540, 580 or 620 horsepower, supported by a reinforced four-speed manual transmission, a custom clutch assembly, titanium drivetrain components, and extensive bespoke engineering.
The chassis was engineered for maximum performance and reduced weight, with Bilstein coil-over suspension, Eibach springs and K3 spring plates, Porsche 930 Turbo and 935 RSR-inspired brakes, BBS wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and an ATL 100-liter fuel cell with dual pumps. Despite its FIA-approved welded safety cage and reinforced passenger compartment, the car weighs only 1,050 kilograms (2,315 pounds).
Unlike many race-inspired creations, this Porsche was engineered from the outset for both road and track. Following an individual TÜV inspection and certification, it received full German road registration, including a historic H license plate. With only 1,584 kilometers (984 miles) since completion, it remains essentially in as-built condition and is accompanied by extensive documentation, engineering records, build specifications, and certification material.
Believed to be the only example built to this exact specification, the car combines motorsport pedigree, engineering excellence, road legality, and extraordinary performance. It is a singular expression of air-cooled Porsche engineering, offered by RGB Motors on behalf of a distinguished private collector.
