911 Cup 3.8 RSR(993)

This 1997 Porsche 911 Cup 3.8 RSR was factory-built by Porsche Motorsport as a dedicated “20631 RSR Package Vehicle.” It is one of 45 such 993 RSRs: thirty for 1997 and fifteen for 1998. Its specification differs from a Cup car subsequently upgraded to RSR configuration.

The matching-numbers Type M64/75 3.8-litre naturally aspirated air-cooled flat-six produces approximately 349 horsepower and is paired with the original G50/30 six-speed manual gearbox. Factory equipment includes a lightweight Matter roll cage, aluminum hood, ball-jointed suspension, adjustable two-way Bilstein dampers, GT2-derived 380 mm brakes, wide fender flares and adjustable aerodynamic equipment.

Limited competition use

Finished in Guards Red, chassis WP0ZZZ99ZVS398063 was delivered in July 1997 to Michael Doolin of Sandy, Utah. It was never professionally campaigned; use was limited to selected Porsche Club and NASA events. The car has had three owners and records 13,308 kilometers, approximately 8,269 miles.

In 2016, the previous owner commissioned Kelly-Moss Road and Race in Madison, Wisconsin to inspect the car and evaluate the engine. The front and rear bumpers were refinished to remove period racing graphics, while the original competition interior was preserved.

Acquired by the current owner in 2017, it remains part of a private Porsche collection in Germany. The car retains its competition seat, six-point harness and integrated fire-suppression system. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, German registration/title and extensive records accompany it. Independent inspections are welcome; suitability for particular motorsport events requires current technical and organizer approval.
