The ultimate evolution of the 964 and one of the final factory-built air-cooled customer competition cars. Built by Porsche Motorsport at Weissach for endurance racing, the Carrera RSR 3.8 marks the pinnacle of the 964 competition program and serves as a direct bridge to the legendary 993 Cup and GT2 that followed.

Produced between 1993 and 1995, Porsche Motorsport hand-assembled each of the approximately 55 Carrera RSR 3.8s and delivered them exclusively to professional racing teams competing in international GT and endurance events. Powered by the legendary twin-plug, Mezger-derived 3.8-liter flat-six, the RSR combined lightweight construction, advanced suspension geometry, and uncompromising factory engineering to become one of the era’s most capable customer race cars.

Developed in the final years of the 964 platform, the Carrera RSR 3.8 served as the technological foundation for Porsche’s next-generation competition cars. Many of the concepts refined through the RSR program, including its engine architecture, chassis development, and aerodynamic philosophy, would influence the 993 Cup, GT2, and ultimately the GT1.

This example benefits from documented period-competition history, professional maintenance by a recognized Porsche Motorsport specialist, and current FIA Historic Technical Papers (HTP). Eligible for premier historic racing events, including Le Mans Classic, Daytona Classic 24, and many of Europe’s leading historic motorsport series, it offers an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of Porsche Motorsport’s most desirable and collectible air-cooled competition cars.
