The Car
Originally displayed by Maserati at the 1970 Chicago Motor Show, this matching-numbers Ghibli pairs exceptional factory provenance with concours-level presentation: a seven-year restoration, Maserati Classiche certification, an Amelia Island class award, and only some 200 miles since completion.
Few grand touring automobiles embody Italian elegance as completely as the Maserati Ghibli. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro during his tenure at Ghia, the Ghibli remains one of the twentieth century’s defining automotive designs, combining breathtaking proportions with effortless long-distance performance.
RGB Motors is proud to present an exceptional 1970 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Coupé, one of the finest documented and most comprehensively restored examples available anywhere in the world. Finished in its original Verde Bosco Metallizzato over White Connolly leather, this matching-numbers automobile is accompanied by Maserati Classiche Certification confirming its authenticity, originality, and factory specifications.
Chassis AM115*1520, completed at Maserati’s Modena factory on January 28, 1970, was selected as the official Maserati display vehicle for the 1970 Chicago Motor Show, an extraordinary distinction that sets this Ghibli apart from virtually every other example produced. Of approximately 1,149 Ghibli Coupés built, very few possess such exceptional factory provenance.
Acquired by its current owner in 2014, the car underwent a meticulous seven-year, concours-level nut-and-bolt restoration, entrusted to some of the marque’s most respected specialists. The body restoration was completed by Mike Kleeves of Automobile Metal Shapers, and the original matching-numbers 4.7-liter quad-cam V8 was professionally rebuilt by renowned Maserati specialist Terry Myrr, incorporating discreet engineering improvements while preserving complete factory correctness.
After completion, the Ghibli made its public debut at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, where it earned a class award, confirming the exceptional quality of the restoration. Having traveled only about 200 miles since completion, the car remains concours-ready.
The accompanying documentation is equally remarkable and includes Maserati Classiche’s Certificate of Origin, Technical & Aesthetic Certificate, a certified copy of the original factory delivery documentation, books, service records, the original toolkit, jack, spare wheel, keys, and an exceptional history file documenting virtually every stage of the restoration and ownership.
Powered by Maserati’s legendary 4.7-liter DOHC V8 and paired with the desirable ZF S5-325 five-speed manual transmission, this Ghibli delivers effortless grand-touring performance and offers the refined driving experience that has established Maserati among the world’s premier grand-touring manufacturers.
Opportunities to acquire a Ghibli of this caliber are exceptionally rare. Combining documented factory provenance, matching-numbers authenticity, Maserati Classiche certification, concours-winning presentation, and one of the most complete known history files for the model, chassis AM115*1520 represents a benchmark example of Italy’s most celebrated grand touring automobile.
